Tornados and Songs

Sitting in the basement waiting out a tornado warning.

There has been stress in my life the past few weeks having mostly to do with work. The slow economy and perhaps some bad business decisions have made times rather tenuous. I try to listen to scripture about the birds of the air and the flowers of the field and sometimes it helps, but in the wee hours of night the doubt and fear creeps in and I forget.

On my work computer is a song by Michael Card titled "Basin and the Towel" The songs chorus says:
And the call is to community,
The impoverished power that sets the soul free.
In humility, to take the vow, that day after day we must take up the basin and the towel.

As I listened today I was reminded of the "community" I have around me all the time. Family, friends and of course my lover, Pat. I had a sense that what the call for me to do is accept the situation, and wash the feet of my fears. I hope this will allow me to own them and not them owning me.

So in the wee hours of night, you may hear me pouring water into a basin and looking for..... I am not sure what exactly, but I will bow to them, wash what ever I can feel and go back to sleep.

Tornado warning lifted.......

These are difficult days and it is easy to worry about what's to come. Maybe it will be like your tornado: it will come and go...

Blessings.

Hi Jack,

Did you find Atticus? I thought you might have since I don't see any activity here. I miss seeing your posts. Maybe you could do one every six months or so. Your fans would appreciate this so much!

Love you Jack,
Ralph
